Rainbow Afghanistan Organisation was founded inMay 2022, through a group of young Afghan LGBTQIA+, and aimed to serving the needs of Afghan queer communities. The main objective is to let the world know about the existence and voice of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Afghanistan. A human rights advocate (Shahriar Mandegar) runs the group to actively represent the views of the LGBTQIA+ Afghan communities to the rest of the world.
Rainbow Afghanistan is collaborating with ILGA Asia and LSVD to help LGBTQIA+ Afghan individuals trapped in Afghanistan, Iran,Pakistan, and Turkey to escape danger. Rainbow Afghanistan also supports LGBTQIA+ Afghan, Iranian and Tajik asylum seekers and refugees residing in Germany.
